Use Firefox rather than Internet Explorer

At least until Internet Explorer 7 comes out, I recommend to all my non-technical friends that they download and use Firefox as their default web browser rather than use Internet Explorer. By doing this, you will automatically stop 99% of the spyware problems that seem to plague non-technical users, and have the added bonus of runing a clean, open-source web browser. The steps are as follows:
  1. Download Firefox
  2. Install Firefox
  3. Make Firefox your default browser in Windows
To make Firefox your default browser in Windows once you have it installed, open Control Panel and click Add or Remove Programs. A new window will open, with a series of icons down the left side. Click the last icon called Set Program Access and Defaults. From there, select Custom and choose to have Firefox as your default web browser. Now whenever you open a HTML link in an email or anywhere else, Firefox will open rather than Internet Explorer.
